The Norco Regional Conservancy was formally organized as a 501.c.(3) in January of 2007. The Norco Regional Conservancy (NRC) was founded to facilitate the conservancy efforts for natural and historic resources in the Norco region. Currently, the NRC is involved in two projects: The Friends of Norco Hills and the Lake Norconian Club Foundation.
Simply put, the Norco Regional Conservancy is a nonprofit preservation and conservation organization that endeavors to open space, land and the historical district of Norco, California for people to enjoy as parks, community gardens, historic sites, rural lands, and other natural places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come.
The Friends of Norco Hills project was initiated to bring awareness, conservation and preservation to the hills and open space in and around the Norco area.
The Lake Norconian Club Foundation project was initiated to bring awareness, education, support and hopefully a happy ending to the abandonment and neglect of one of California's historic treasures. Built as a world class resort in 1927, the Lake Norconian Club has served as a luxury resort, a naval hospital, a California rehabilitation prison, and a navel research center. Unfortunately, the historic beauty's architectural splendor and historic prominence has long since been boarded up, forgotten and plans have been made for its inevitable demise. The Lake Norconian Club Foundation is endeavoring to bring its blight to the forefront of people's minds, work to preserve its place in history, preserve its wonderful presence, and ensure that its historic walls are open for future generations of Californians to enjoy.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to bring the community and government together to save the Norconian property as one of the regional treasures of the Southern California region. Work to preserve, protect and advocate for the preservation of this resource, and to educate and bring awareness to the community and future generations to come.
Jeff Compton, President
